So I think that we have reached the age where we are starting to notice differences in people. I have to have a talk with Caitlyn and I really am not sure how to broach the subject with her. Or if I even need to have the conversation with her.
We were out for dinner tonight, a little mother daughter time since Matt was at a meeting through dinner. We were sitting next to large windows that face a very busy street and the parking lot. An African American man was walking from the parking lot into the restaurant. My child leans over the table and whispers to me..
"Look mommy it's a chocolate man."
I didn't even know how to respond. Should I have had a conversation with her about it right then and there??? I quickly changed the subject and prayed that when the man was seated, he wouldn't be near us so that Caitlyn wouldn't repeat the phrase in front of him.
So I don't think that this is anywhere in the parenting books. Anyone have any words of wisdom for me?

Well I guess there is no better time like now lol. lets start todays lesson by explaining to extremely cute and gorgeous kid that some men and women are of colour, and some are not. BTW when I read the "chocolate" comment a vision of "chef" from southpark appeared in my head lol. Must be that chocolate salty song he had out a while back. I dont envy your task lol. Wait till Cait starts asking why "that person over there is SO FAT"
