If she's the Princess, does that mean that I am the wicked Stepmother?

We all know that Caitlyn loves the Disney Princesses now. She wants anything and everything that has them on it. So she has this DVD that has some of the love songs turned into pop songs with children dancing to them. She watches this a hundred times a day and knows the majority of the songs by heart.
So tonight Caitlyn is dancing and singing to the songs as usualy...wearing her snow White crown and holding her wand. She comes over to me to ask for some chocolate (a woman after my own heart) . I tell her that she needs to bring me her bowl from the table so that I can put it in there. When she brings it to me, I say ever so politely, "Thank you." It is then that Caitlyn corrects me and helps me to see the error of my ways.

"Mommy you need to say 'Thank you Princess Caitlyn.'" Hmmmmm...didn't realize that we were royalty in this house.

Poop happens.....or does it?

As many of you may know, Caitlyn has been a very difficult child to potty train. Some time back, approximately a year or so, Caitlyn was gung ho and ready to pee on the potty. She did so beautifully. Then for some unknown reason known to man, she decided that she no longer liked the idea of it. Oh well you say, no big deal as she was only 2ish. Well, here we are at over 3ish and there is still no peeing in the potty. Although we do love to sit on it and watch TV.....

Last night Caitlyn tells me that she wants to wear her Freabella (Cinderella for those English speaking folks) panties and poop on the potty. Now, normally, pooping on that thing is something that chidren typically do not accomplish until they have mastered the art of peeing into that thing. But if my child wants to poop in it first, it would not surprise me as she has not chosen the normal path for anything in her life!

I proceed to take off the diaper, put on the panties, and help her sit on the potty. It is then that she begins to push and grunt and moan. After about 15 minutes, and no poop, I kindly say to her that maybe she should just wait a little bit and maybe it will happen then. Caitlyn, being her power hungry self, insists on sitting there until something, anything, happens.

I go about my business while she continues her deeds. Then Caitlyn says to herself, quielty as though no one is supposed to hear...
"Awwww, this is never gonna work. I can't poop here."

And there you have it....back into the diaper we went.

Can the sky be painted?

As we were leaving the house on Friday to go to school, Caitlyn looked at the sky and was very saddened by the fact that it was overcast and grey. She looked at me with sad eyes and said:
"Mommy, the sky is not blue today. Maybe Gramma Rita will paint it for me!"
What a logical little thing she is.....if it's not right, just fix it right?

Kids Say the Darndest Things

Since Caitlyn has started talking, the things that come out of her mouth often amaze me, make me laugh until my stomach hurts, or bring tears to my eyes. Because of Caitlyn's rough start in life, the things that she says often make me realize what a miracle she truely is.
I have created this blog because some of the things that Caitlyn says and does will be forgotten over time. I would love to be able to write them all down, but who really has time for that? So I figured if I could just type them in as they come out of her, it would be a magnificent record for her to look back on when she is older.....and for all of us to get a good laugh at every now and again.
