As we were sitting on the couch watching survivor tonight, Matt and I were discussing one of the competetors that we both think is very pretty. Matt mentioned that she is a "normal" kind of pretty as opposed to "model" pretty because you can see that she had blemishes on her face. But feels that she is still very pretty. Caitlyn informs us of her own beauty...
"I don't have blemishes on my face because I am very beautiful mommy."
I really hope this child isn't this vain when she is older....

This little girl of mine.....
There isn't enough room on this blog for me to write everthing down that she has been saying to me the last few days. By this, I mean that she is pushing me to the limits and seeing just how much she can actually get away with before I lose control. Her newest and most favorite phrase is telling me that I don't love her when I tell her that she can not have something or can't do something. She will even say that she doesn't love me anymore as well.
We were out to dinner tonight and she wanted to dance (it was a Mexican restaurant and there was music playing). The place was virtually empty so I said that's fine, just make sure you stay near the table. Needless to say, i had to tell her about 100 times that she needed to get her ass back by the table or sit in her chair. And even when I told her, she would look at me and grin (an evil one) and say, "But Mommy. I promise promise promise that I will just be right here."
I told Matt that if she is like this with me at 3, then I can't even imagine what life is going to be with this child at 16! Lord help me.
Now many will say, it's that little attitude of hers that got her through the toughest time in her life. My response....if she keeps this shit up, she is going to need it to help her survive the toughest part of life now...ME!!!

She is bilingual?
As you may know, Caitlyn is a huge Dora the Explorer fan. So she has some exposure to the spanish language. She is also learning spanish a couple times a week in school...one of the many perks of almost $500 a month I suppose. Tonight we ventured to Mc Donald's as a family, which I am most certain that Matt thouroughly enjoyed (NOT). There were about 4 other little girls there that Caitlyn was playing with (instead of eating mind you). And they all happened to be of Spanish decent. I tell her that she has one more go up the tunnels and down the slide. So she goes running to the tunnel screaming "Come on" to her new friends. I am waiting at the bottom so that I can catch her when she comes down so that she does not dach back into the tunnels....she knows there is no getting my big ass in there after her. I hear her continuing to call the other girls, as she is quite the bossy one when it comes to playing with other children at times. I guess they weren't moving fast enough for her calling them in english so she proceeds to start yelling "Vamanos!!" (means let's go in spanish). Matt at I simply looked at each other silently and the other parents around began laughing hysterically. One mom looked at me and said..."She must be a fan of Dora."

The Moon Revolves Around her
Caitlyn said not too long ago that the moon looks like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. She always look at it when we are out at night now to see if it looks like him or not (a silver or a full moon). When we walked out of the house tonight, she immediately said that it looked like him and we got in the car and drove away. Well, she was trying to see it, however when we made some turns, it was out of view. As we were driving back home, she said she was sad because she couldn't find it. I told her not to worry that it was still there. Then she figured out where it was...."The moon probably went back to my house to wait for me mommy."

She made me "piss" my pants tonight
Well Happy Birhtday to me! Caitlyn has done it again and has made me laugh so hard that I actually had to run from the room to make it to the bathroom....yet again.
Picture this, a sweet, innocent child sitting on the couch watching Lion King while I sit playing Literati on the computer. I am listening to her chatter to herself when she suddenly starts calling my name. I look over and ask her what she needs. She tells me something that I can't quite make out (not all of her speech is 100% understandable as of yet).
Finally I make some of the words out and repeat them back to her to be sure that this is what she is trying to tell me. She is attempting to tell me something about me being pissed off! She continues to tell me all about it and I tried writing it down as fast as she was saying it so that I could be as concise as possible.
"When you get pissed off, it means that you're not happy. That you are angry. Are you pissed off angry now?"
As if her knowing precisely what the word means and how to use it in sentences, she begins singing something. Again, I can't quite make it out at first. But after careful listening, I realize that my child is calling me "Mom Pissed Off"!!!!
I would love to say that I corrected her and told her that she should not be saying this, but I was laughing to hard....parent of the year I suppose. You know, we have laid off on the dreaded F word and she hasn't uttered that for wuite some time. Now appearently I must remove all of the foul words from my vocabulary....is that even possible???
Oh and on a side note...we managed a bowel movement in the potty of our own accord today :)

Not her words tonight....
My poor baby has managed to go 6 days without pooping. So finally I bit the bullet and used a suppository, something that hasn't needed to be done since she was under 2 pounds and in the hospital. Needless to say, this go round was much more difficult....on both of us.
So it has finally happened, and I am not sure if either of us are happy with the results. She is devasted that she pooped in her pull up and I am mortified that I had to perform such an act on this child. I have managed to bring color back into her face when she stopped breathing in the past, but somehow inserting a rectal suppository has me all up in arms. Go figure!
I am hoping that this is not a trend that we need to fall into and that she is able to start going on the potty naturally!

Modesty....she doesn't know that word!
Silly little girl that she was tonight, made an entire room of people laugh out loud. We went to Matt's football banquet and Caitlyn was so excited to see her daddy standing in front of all of those people talking. She kept asking when she could go up by him. So finally, another coach was talking and I told her that she could go and stand next to him if she stood there quietly. She said she would and she was off to be on stage with daddy.
He was pleased and smiled as she approached him, feeling proud of her of course. When she was about 6 feet away, she attempts to whisper (an impossible task for an almost 4 year old), and says:
"Daddy I have to go pee on the potty!"
Needless to say, everyone got a good chuckle and I ran up there to run to the bathroom with her with my face red as could be.

The pooping saga continues...
What has my life become that I find interesting conversation with a 3 1/2 year old about why she should (or in her eyes should not) poop on the potty??? Such is life I suppose. I have decided that Caitlyn is too smart for her own well being...and for my own sanity.
I actually made this child sit on the potty for upwards of 2 hours tonite in the hopes that "it" would just happen. Tried the bribing thing with a trip to McDonald's. Tried everything that I could possibly think of short of squeezing this child until something...andything....happens. No such luck.
After the initial trauma of not being able to go to McDonald's, my brilliant child gets an idea. She proceeds to ask me:
"Mommy, it's okay to have an accident in your pull up right?"
Let me explain this. About 2 weeks ago, I mentioned that it was okay to have an accident in the pull up while she was sleeping, as that is the only time that she wears those. I should have been a little more descriptive when I told her this sentence, because at 3 1/2 she has already made me eat my own words!

She's not a pooper...but she sure knows how to wheel and deal
Well, the potty training has been going unusaully well for us the last 5 1/2 weeks. Only a handful of accidents really and the Queen is now telling me when she has to go or just going on her own. However, I need to clarify that she only willingly goes pee, pooping...now that's a whole other ballgame. We have to sit on the potty in front of the TV and have some snacks and some milk. And pray that in 30 minutes, there are remnants in the potty to prove that we have been there for the last 1/2 hour. Typically, there is not, and it ends up being an emergent situation in which I am rushing her over to the potty and BAM! there we have it.
Well, today, Herself decides that she needs to negotiate prior to giving us what we want. It has been almost a week now and I will be stopping at the store for some prune juice and some laxitives for this child. Unless she gets her way....either way, there WILL be poop in the potty tonite. My mom has had her sitting on the potty the majority of the day. Caitlyn looks at her and says she just can't do it. Then quizzically looks at Grandma and says, "If I go poop on the potty, will you buy me 'The Princess and the Pauper?'" (new Barbie movie) My mom, thinking that this is ever so cute, agrees. Caitlyn then tells her, "But I am not going to go poop here, I have to do it at home. I will have Mommy call and tell you that I pooped so that you can buy me the movie."
Nix on the scientist idea....I think she may be a lawyer????

A Scientist on My Hands
It is amazing to me to watch the vocabulary of a toddler expand....that is I enjoy watching when Caitlyn actually uses a really mature word, not learning the vocabulary of a trucker. I wonder sometimes where she has heard the words that she chooses to use...and use them in the correct context at that!
While we were driving home the other day, she was telling me that she goes on the potty everyday because she is a big girl now and that's what big girls do. I commented that it was true that big girls went on the potty everyday. Her response to me made me laugh outloud...to the point that I think other drivers were looking at me funny! She said, "Mommy, now you say something scientific back."
Are you kidding me??? I can't recall offhand exactly what I said to her in response to that (after I finally stop laughing of course). But it was something along the lines of me loving her everyday. So she tells me, "That's not scientific Mommy, I already know that."
And so it begins I suppose, that this child is now going to correct me everytime I say something. I thought I had until she was at least 15 or so before that started!

The dreaded "F" word
For those of you that know me, you also know that I have a tendency to have quite a trucker's mouth. Well appearently is seems that the vernacular in my house needs some altering as Caitlyn has become somewhat fond of this word. The first couple times that she spoke it, I paid no attention to it hoping that she would forget about the word......no such luck.
Her latest sentence including this word was...
"I don't want to play this f*cking game anymore. The game that she is referencing is Hi Ho Cherry-O brought to her by Santa.
The reason that this latest statement has me so up in arms is because not only is she using the word appropriately in the proper context, but she is now managing to conjugate it! Yes, I am thankful that my child has learned how to conjugate verbs....but could she use words like jump and play and add the -ing to those? Nope, she has to stand out of course.
We have now had the discussion of what words are nice to say and what words that little girls are not supposed to say.

She is going to have a little sister named Baby Meghan
Caitlyn would love for this to be true. Her newest endeavor is telling people that I am having a baby. It is going to be a girl and she is going to name it Baby Meghan. She is actually convinving people that she has gone to the doctor with me as well.
So as we visit people during this holiday season, I have to forwarn those in the room that if she mentions it, it is not true. I have already had people congratulating me on the big news!

She hasn't spoken a funny word since October???
Not true. Of course Caitlyn has said numerous silly things. However, her mother is not very on top of things these days. So maybe I should get my butt in gear and start typing some of the things she has said. Easier said than done as now they are escaping my memory...of course.
There are a few that I can seem to recall and I will post those.

If she's the Princess, does that mean that I am the wicked Stepmother?
We all know that Caitlyn loves the Disney Princesses now. She wants anything and everything that has them on it. So she has this DVD that has some of the love songs turned into pop songs with children dancing to them. She watches this a hundred times a day and knows the majority of the songs by heart.
So tonight Caitlyn is dancing and singing to the songs as usualy...wearing her snow White crown and holding her wand. She comes over to me to ask for some chocolate (a woman after my own heart) . I tell her that she needs to bring me her bowl from the table so that I can put it in there. When she brings it to me, I say ever so politely, "Thank you." It is then that Caitlyn corrects me and helps me to see the error of my ways.
"Mommy you need to say 'Thank you Princess Caitlyn.'" Hmmmmm...didn't realize that we were royalty in this house.

Poop happens.....or does it?
As many of you may know, Caitlyn has been a very difficult child to potty train. Some time back, approximately a year or so, Caitlyn was gung ho and ready to pee on the potty. She did so beautifully. Then for some unknown reason known to man, she decided that she no longer liked the idea of it. Oh well you say, no big deal as she was only 2ish. Well, here we are at over 3ish and there is still no peeing in the potty. Although we do love to sit on it and watch TV.....
Last night Caitlyn tells me that she wants to wear her Freabella (Cinderella for those English speaking folks) panties and poop on the potty. Now, normally, pooping on that thing is something that chidren typically do not accomplish until they have mastered the art of peeing into that thing. But if my child wants to poop in it first, it would not surprise me as she has not chosen the normal path for anything in her life!
I proceed to take off the diaper, put on the panties, and help her sit on the potty. It is then that she begins to push and grunt and moan. After about 15 minutes, and no poop, I kindly say to her that maybe she should just wait a little bit and maybe it will happen then. Caitlyn, being her power hungry self, insists on sitting there until something, anything, happens.
I go about my business while she continues her deeds. Then Caitlyn says to herself, quielty as though no one is supposed to hear...
"Awwww, this is never gonna work. I can't poop here."
And there you have it....back into the diaper we went.

Can the sky be painted?
As we were leaving the house on Friday to go to school, Caitlyn looked at the sky and was very saddened by the fact that it was overcast and grey. She looked at me with sad eyes and said:
"Mommy, the sky is not blue today. Maybe Gramma Rita will paint it for me!"
What a logical little thing she is.....if it's not right, just fix it right?

Kids Say the Darndest Things
Since Caitlyn has started talking, the things that come out of her mouth often amaze me, make me laugh until my stomach hurts, or bring tears to my eyes. Because of Caitlyn's rough start in life, the things that she says often make me realize what a miracle she truely is.
I have created this blog because some of the things that Caitlyn says and does will be forgotten over time. I would love to be able to write them all down, but who really has time for that? So I figured if I could just type them in as they come out of her, it would be a magnificent record for her to look back on when she is older.....and for all of us to get a good laugh at every now and again.
